Efficiency class regulation and UKCA Marking
New ecodesign regulation (EU) 2019/1781 standard from 1 July 2023
The European Union has announced that new regulations will be introduced on electric motors from 1 July 2023, with the aim of promoting sustainability and energy efficiency. These regulations will apply to all member states and will aim to reduce energy consumption and encourage the development and use of environmentally friendly electric motors.
The new regulations set stricter energy efficiency standards for electric motors placed on the European market. Manufacturers will be required to produce electric motors with higher efficiency and lower energy consumption than older models. This measure aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce operational costs for businesses and consumers.
New standard from 1 July 2023
Electric motors with a rated power of 75 kW to 200 kW must comply with the IE4 Super Premium Efficiency Class for 2-, 4- and 6-pole versions from 1 July 2023.
The New UKCA marking
